Details:
I've had some recommendations come from some friends of mine, that this reel would be ideal for Musky and Northern. Even though they don't one one.

Though when I see that the reel has a maximum drag of 16lbs. I've have to ask, if this reel (300 or 400) is really suitable for fishing for species such as Musky and Northern? Or would I be better off with something else?

I have the cte401 lefty model, I would not use it for fresh water too big. I never used the 300 model it might do the trick.

I use the Teramar by Shimano on my Te 401. Model # TMC76h I use the heavy rod for horsing large stripers away from rocks and piers. I just purchased a kayak and this rod will also work for trolling the tube and worm rigs. This rod cast excellent and I can handle anything with this setup. The reel works great and has all the features you need. Good luck!!!
